Blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon ). Botanically, the species Acacia melanoxylon belongs to the genus Acacia. Blackwood is mainly found in Tasmania. The heartwood is from light brown to reddish dark brown with a distinctive pattern. It is a high quality wood for interior and exterior use, in boat building and as turnery wood.
