The Sheos (Allocasuarina) is only at home in Australia and thrives there mainly in the dry south. The trees and shrubs, which can grow up to 20 m in height, have a striking appearance due to their rod-like, elongated branches, which take on the function of the leaves.
It also has an individual character due to its striking grain, is light brown to reddish brown and is of exceptionally good quality.
Like all Australian hardwoods, it is strictly controlled and may only be harvested by licensed companies.
It is used in knife and toy construction and is the ideal turning wood for tamper, portafilter and chisel handles.
Clean gently with a soft, damp cloth. The hardwood handles are very popular and provide a great contrast to stainless steel machines and worktops.
